Welcome to HSED Residency Week (2024)
June 3 - 7, 2024
In-person at David Braley Health Sciences Centre
100 Main Street West, Hamilton, ON, Canada
Residency Week 1
In the first Residency Week, we bring all incoming students together to meet the HSED faculty and introduce them to foundational information about health science education, course content, program procedures and platforms. Community-building is a big focus of the first Residency Week, so there will be lots of opportunities to meet and work with faculty and students. These connections will form the foundation of your community of practice here in Health Science Education. On Wednesday June 5, you will participate in Norman Education Research Day (NERD), a growing health professions education research and scholarship conference. You will also have an opportunity to engage with cutting edge health professions education science. The keynote speaker at NERD 2024 is Dr. Stefanie Sebok-Syer, who will discuss interdependence within healthcare teams.
We look forward to seeing you in Hamilton in June!
Residency Week 2
We welcome current students to Residency Week 2, a chance to consolidate key ideas developed during your time in the HSED Program. Whether you are completing your MSc degree with a Thesis, Scholarly Paper, or Capstone Portfolio, there will be opportunities to receive information and feedback on particular areas of your independent work. We have assembled some expert sessions on some of the lesser-discussed aspects of education research and innovation: managing budgets, securing research ethics approval, disseminating new knowledge, and more. There will be opportunities to receive feedback on your work from peers and faculty. In the first Residency Week, community building was a strong focus. The second Residency Week provides an opportunity to solidify those connections as you transition into the next phase of your health science education career.
